If you've found your way here because you're dealing with redness or sensitive skin, welcome. ❤️ I know how frustrating it can be.
For years, my skin has gone through periods where it becomes red, irritated, and incredibly sensitive. Sometimes the redness would linger for months, and it often felt like every new product I tried only made things worse.
I'm still learning what triggers my flare-ups, and I don't claim to have all the answers. But over the past several months, I've found a handful of products and habits that have truly made a difference for my skin.
This page is where I'll continue sharing what's working for me as I discover new products and routines. I hope it helps someone else who has been searching for gentle options.
One of my flare-ups. My skin often becomes red, irritated, and stays that way for several days.
My Skin Today
While my skin isn't perfect, it's so much calmer than it used to be.
I still have sensitive skin, and I still experience flare-ups from time to time, but the redness doesn't seem to linger the way it once did. My goal has never been perfect skin…just healthier, calmer skin that feels comfortable again.
What's Been Helping Me
Everyone's skin is different, so what works for me may not work for everyone. These are simply the products and habits that I've personally found helpful.
Anua Azelaic Acid 10% Serum
If I had to choose one skincare product that has earned a permanent place in my routine, it would probably be this one.
I've found the Anua Azelaic Acid 10% Serum to be incredibly gentle on my skin. It's lightweight, layers well under moisturizer, and leaves my skin feeling hydrated without feeling greasy.
Since using it consistently, I've noticed:
My skin feels calmer.
Redness doesn't seem to linger as long.
My complexion looks more even.
My skin has a healthy glow.
It wasn't an overnight change, but it's become one of those products I continue reaching for because my skin genuinely seems happier when I use it.
Red Light Therapy
One of the BEST additions/investments to my routine has been red light therapy. If I had to choose one skincare product that has earned a permanent place in my routine, it would probably be this one.
I personally like to use it in the morning because I feel like it gives me a gentle boost to start the day. It's become one of those habits I actually look forward to each morning.
Using red light therapy consistently has become an important part of my skincare routine. Along with the other changes I've made, I've noticed my skin looks calmer, healthier, and my redness doesn't seem to linger as long. And maybe... just maybe... a little younger, too.
I simply sit down and relax for a few minutes while I'm waking up, and then move on with my day.

Vitamin C
I also take a daily Vitamin C supplement as part of my overall wellness routine.
Vitamin C supports collagen production and healthy skin, and while I can't say it's responsible for all of my improvement, I do feel like it's become one helpful piece of the puzzle.

Zinc
I added a zinc supplement to my nightly routine. WOW! I could tell a difference within a week!
I plan to continue taking it as part of my routine moving forward. I take it three times a week and it has made a huge difference for me preventing flares!

My Current Routine
One thing I've learned is that my skin seems to do better when I keep things simple. I've never been someone with a long, complicated skincare routine. In fact, the more products I pile on, the more likely my skin is to become irritated.
Morning
Splash my face with cool water
Red light therapy
Anua Azelaic Acid 10% Serum
Vitamin C supplement
Evening
Rinse with water (or use a gentle cleanser if I feel like my skin needs it)
Moisturizer
Zinc supplement
For me, consistency with a few products my skin actually tolerates has made a much bigger difference than trying every new product that comes along.
If you've struggled with redness or irritation, I hope this page reminds you that improvement doesn't always come from finding one miracle product. Sometimes it's simply about learning what your skin needs, being patient, and staying consistent.
Thank you for following along with my journey. I hope sharing mine helps you feel a little less alone in yours.
❤️ Kristin
